According to the official document (code: 清人字第1099006853號) and

NTHU Guidelines for Faculty Research Leave and Sabbatical Leave:

1. Research leave

Academic faculty served in NTHU at least 6 semesters(years) without applying any research leave or sabbatical leave are eligible to go on a research leave for one semester(year).

After the completion of the leave, the serving time should be recalculated.

2. Sabbatical Leave

Academic faculty served in national or overseas university at least 7 semesters(years) continuously and served in NTHU 2(4) years continuously are eligible to go on a sabbatical leave for 1(2) semester.

2 semesters Sabbatical Leave application should be completed within 2 academic years.

When applying sabbatical leave, the serving period have been accumulated more than 7years or 3 and a half years, the excess could be combined in next Sabbatical Leave application.

3. A sabbatical leave shall not be approved in any of the following situations:

(1) Professors serving after reaching compulsory retirement age may not apply for sabbatical leave during the extended service period.

(2) Academic faculty who fails to pass the teachers evaluation,and within 5 years, Dean for Academic Affairs and Dean of the department have asked twice to provide improving teaching action.

 

 

@The due day for Application for Faculty Research Leave and Sabbatical Leave in 109 Academic year (the 2^nd semester) is 2020/11/30.

Applicants qualifying service terms shall file applications when service terms satisfy the above requirement. The application must be accompanied by a list of research leave and sabbatical leave applications, an application form, and a written proposal to be reviewed and approved by the Teachers’ Evaluation Committee before submitting to the personnel office.

 

@ The number of concurrent research or sabbatical leaves in any one department  shall not exceed 15% of the teachers of the department (see the NTHU Guidelines for Faculty Research Leave and Sabbatical Leave)
